Sir Syed Memorial Society (Islamabad), running several educational and technical institutions in Pakistan has proposed to establish contacts with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) of India. The proposal was extended by a goodwill delegation of Sir Syed Memorial Society, that is here on the invitation by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Student's Union to attend symposium on Aligarh Movement. Fourteen-member delegation comprises prominent alumni of the university.

Brigadier Iqbal Shafi (Retd), who is leading the delegation, expressed his pleasure and warm feelings on visiting his alma mater.

The delegation visited the tomb of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and laid a wreath.

The delegation included Major General Shabbir Hussain Shah (Retd), Scientist Professor M.A. Hafeez, Dr Talmin Hussain, former vice chancellor AJK University, Muhammad Aslam Mughal, Dr Tajuddin Kirmani, Miraz Aleem Beg Chughtai, Lieutenant Colonel S. Mohsin Zaidi (Retd) and Saad Ashraf.

Leader of the delegation Brigadier Iqbal Shafi (Retd) highlighted the Aligarh spirit and brotherhood at the symposium, presided over by AMU Vice Chancellor Naseem Ahmad.

Pak delegation was also invited to the prize distribution function of All India Sir Syed Memorial Inter-Varsity debates organised by the literary club at Kennedy Hall Auditorium.

Panel discussion on the theme "The role of ideologies and scientific advancement in shaping the present day chaotic world order" was also organised on the occasion.

The delegation of Sir Syed Memorial Society were also taken for a conducted tour of AMU.

They called on the Vice chancellor Naseem Ahmad and thanked him for the courtesies and traditional hospitality extended to them during the visit.
